Put that phone away? Or can mobile phones be useful in class?

Mobile phones are very important to everyone it seems nowadays everyone seems to have one and cannot live without one. In class is that it will help students be more comfortable in accessing information via email as many phones now have internets so more work can be available through the internet and email and passing information back and forth especially when the computers are not working or if you have done the homework but don’t have it in paper you can send it via email. Also using mobile phones gives student that freedom that they can learn independently and learn via imagination rather than just boring facts and the teacher just going on and on maybe the lesson plan is to be accessed by mobile phone and then they do the work which the lesson demands. But mobile phones provide a distraction because there are so many features and apps in a mobile phone now that students will be distracted and there quality of work will not be great they will be on their music playing games and accessing social network like Facebook and Twitter and this will cause the teacher and then later on them grief because they won’t get the work done. Mobile phones have caused addiction and have proven health issues such as less sleep in the night, eye damage is all that worth it for using mobile phones and then using mobile phones in class? What i believe is that mobile phones should not be allwoed in class there are other ways tot eaching and learning (computers, books, pen and paper) which will improve students writing reading and research skills when they have to if we have it to easy for ourselves that will mean that we are not really learning and when things get tough we wont get tougher but very weak because we will not get out of our comfort zones.

  1. This is a good article overall, a few mistakes with grammar, perhaps you should go back and correct them so its easier to read. I believe that mobile phones should be permitted in class but exclusively for the benefit of the work and the teacher can simply perform close observation to assure no student is off task

  2. I think that the use of phones in class can be both an aid for learning as well as a source of distraction. The use of various educational apps & references to a particular subject can be very useful for school or college work. On the other side of the debate, not all apps are for educational use!! Games can lead one onto another path of thought.

  4. Mobile phones will be used more and more in class. We are thinking about using them more at St David's next year. As long as they do not become a distraction

  5. A very detailed BLOG, it has both sides of the argument therefore it is not biased.
Personally i think Mobile phones should be allowed in classrooms but only to classes to mature about having mobile phones and not abusing it , therefore not getting their work done.

  6. Hi
Please take a look at this video about should phones be allowed in School. The video debates about phones, because of cyber bullying and because it is a distraction.
